El Monterey Beef Bean Burrito 8 Pack

Your relationship with El Monterey breakfast burritos may be on the rocks.

After Kroger's Hepatitis A recall scare last week, another warning has been issued by USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), along with Ruiz Foods Products Inc. You may know Ruiz Foods as the producer of El Monterey breakfast burritos. They're being recalled due to contaminated with foreign materials—more specifically, tiny rocks.

This recall was issued on June 14 and affects retail locations nationwide. If you have El Monterey breakfast burritos hidden in the back of your freezer, it's time to take a closer look. You can find the complete FSIS statement here.

What products are recalled?

If you're a breakfast burrito lover, don't sweat. Only one flavor of El Monterey breakfast burritos is subject to the recall: Egg, Potato, Bacon & Cheese Sauce Breakfast Wraps.

Ruiz Foods received three customer complaints regarding hard materials embedded in the burritos. An investigation confirmed that small rocks were the culprit, which could prove to be a choking hazard or cause damage to teeth when chewed. And unfortunately, one of those reports is of an injury potentially associated with consumption of the burritos in question.
